We have embarked on a two-day journey along the Mekong between Huai Xay and Luang Prabang. On this stretch, the river travels enclosed by hills covered jungle and no one crosses only a few tiny villages. 
The ship made stops for the night in Pak Beng, a village wedged between mountains and a meandering river. What a pleasure to watch river life while sipping a beer ...
Small boats up the river, children playing in current, Clouds hang over Jungle ... Time passes slowly over the water.
It is far from the murky atmosphere of Apocalypse Now!
