What Did Andy Sixx Do To His Hand?

A little further along the Mekong River ... Vientiane Luang Prabang

After 15 days of madness with Maïwenn and Olivier, we needed a little rest ... C That is what we found on the banks of the Mekong River at South. Here, the Mekong is being squeezed between the hills, but extends and extends freely through the vast plains of rice fields.

We enjoyed the places of Francis (the other brother Pascal) tested a few months earlier (Francis, we followed your mark on the records of guesthouses!).

Step in Champasak to visit in the rain, the fabulous pre-Angkorian ruins of Wat Phou. The site is very much the idea that one can make the temple lost in the jungle and eaten by the foam. The atmosphere is perfect for us who reread Malraux. If the initial structure is that of a Hindu temple in the sixth century, the ruins visible today date from the eleventh century. Pre-Angkor it seems that the temple has been maintained and used by the Khmer until the end of their empire.

We continued to the region "4000 islands" on the Cambodian border. For the record, here is off the Mekong rapids impassable making navigation impossible. In the late nineteenth century, the French had the idea to circumvent this problem by building a railway track and a bridge to link the two islands on either side of the rapids. This project would have facilitated trade to the North. The bridge is still there ... the train too, but never rolled.

On these islands, Don Det and Don Khone, not much to do ... Wandering by bicycle between the rice fields, buffaloes and avoid napping enjoying the sound of water. It was great!
